W5 is Northern Ireland's leading science and discovery centre, housed inside the Odyssey complex on Belfast's waterfront in the Titanic Quarter. Spread across eight themed zones, it packs in more than 250 hands-on exhibits covering everything from the human body in MED-Lab to renewable energy in Energise, plus a dedicated Lost Planet zone built for children aged 3 to 11. In Making Sense, kids explore how our senses work through touch, sound and light, while In Our Nature looks at Northern Ireland's own wildlife and landscapes. Live science shows run throughout the day, and the centre regularly hosts seasonal exhibitions, its current one exploring space exploration and Mars rovers. W5 also runs Saturday sessions and birthday party packages for younger visitors. Families can grab lunch at the on-site cafe, which offers a reasonably priced kids' meal deal, and browse the gift shop before leaving. The building has seven wheelchair-accessible unisex toilets, a quiet room and nappy-changing facilities, and sits less than a mile from Belfast city centre with parking available in the adjoining Odyssey car park. Pre-booking is essential and last admission is two hours before closing.
