About Monkstown Hockey Club

Monkstown Hockey Club runs a large Junior Academy for children aged 6 to 16 at its grounds on Glenageary Road Upper. The Academy has been part of the club for more than 50 years and now includes over 650 young players - roughly 200 boys and 450 girls - training across multiple pitches.

Coaching follows the Irish Hockey Association's Hooked for Life model, with small-group sessions designed to suit different ages and abilities while keeping the focus on fun and steady skill progression. Teams take part in regular matches and blitzes alongside their weekly training.

The Academy is built as a clear pathway from a first introduction to hockey through to the club's senior teams, with player safety, enjoyment and gradual development kept front and centre throughout.
