About Cootehill Youth Chess Club
Cootehill Youth Chess Club runs weekly chess classes for children aged 8 and up and teenagers at Cootehill Library on Bridge Street. Organised by Tony McMahon, sessions take place on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 5pm, a handy after-school slot. Complete beginners are welcome: children learn how the pieces move, basic tactics and strategy, and get plenty of practice games against players at their own level. Chess is a great way to build concentration, patience and problem-solving skills. Classes may not run through the summer months, so check before you go.
