About Caragh Open Farm
Caragh Open Farm is a small, family-run open farm on around five acres near Naas, Co. Kildare, converted from a working farm into a visitor attraction since it opened in June 2011. Nearly 30 different animal species live on site, and children can get hands-on feeding and holding rabbits and chickens as well as meeting the wider farm animals. Beyond animal encounters there's a fairy trail, a playground, pony rides and go-karts, plus a scenic walking route that makes the visit feel like more than a quick petting stop. Café ASTA, added in 2022, seats around 30 people indoors with extra outdoor seating and serves barista coffee alongside simple food like paninis, soup and toasted sandwiches. The farm is buggy and wheelchair accessible with a large gravel car park for cars and coaches, and picnicking is actively encouraged for anyone bringing their own food. One notable house rule: dogs aren't permitted, since many of the smaller animals roam freely around the grounds. It opens weekends and bank holidays from late March through June and September, moving to daily opening throughout July and August.
