Newpark Academy Jazz Department

About Newpark Academy Jazz Department

The Jazz Department at Newpark Academy of Music, based at the IADT Atrium Building in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, offers structured jazz training for instrumentalists and vocalists of all backgrounds. Teaching covers ensemble performance, improvisation, theory, ear training and one-on-one instruction.

Students work across a range of jazz styles, from classic swing and bebop through to contemporary jazz and fusion, building technical skill and creative confidence. Live performance opportunities and collaboration with other musicians form a core part of the programme, alongside learning from working jazz musicians.

It suits students who already play or sing and want to specialise in jazz, whether joining an ensemble or deepening an interest in the genre.
