About Maynooth University - CoderDojo
CoderDojo at Maynooth University is a free, weekly coding club for children and teens aged 8 to 16, running during term-time on campus. It's part of the volunteer-led CoderDojo movement, which pairs mentors with young people to build programming skills in a relaxed, club-style setting rather than a formal classroom.
Beginners typically start with Scratch, a common entry point for young coders, before rotating through more advanced material such as the BBC micro:bit, Robocode and Java as their confidence grows. Being free and university-hosted makes it an accessible option for families in the Maynooth area wanting to introduce their child to coding without a course fee.
