About Little Folk- Music for Babies, Toddlers, & Young Children

Little Folk is an early years music class for children aged 4 months to 5 years (or a little older), attended with a parent or carer. Classes run at several Midlands and border venues each week: Oldcastle Masonic Hall on Mondays, Mullingar Arts Centre on Tuesdays, Kells Family Resource Centre on Wednesdays, and The Backyard in Cavan Town on Fridays, with morning slots at each.

Each 45-minute session is built around live music, following the Kodály philosophy that the voice is a child's first instrument. Children explore rhythm, tempo and movement using percussion instruments and scarves, set to original and traditional children's music.

All music is performed live rather than recorded, and the class leader has written and performed children's music since 2012.
