Galway Martial Arts Academy runs children's martial arts programmes for ages 4 to 15, split into three groups tailored to developmental stage: Pandas for 4 to 6 year olds, Tigers for 7 to 10 year olds, and Dragons for 11 to 15 year olds.
Grading students this way lets instructors pitch coordination work, discipline and technique to what's appropriate for each age band, rather than teaching a single mixed-age class.
