Fort Lucan Outdoor Adventureland
About Fort Lucan Outdoor Adventureland
Dublin's biggest outdoor adventure playground, set within a large wooden Viking-style fort at Westmanstown near Lucan, and running since the early 1990s. The main adventure playground covers roughly two acres and includes a maze, secret slides, sky walks from towers around 40 feet high, suspension bridges, pendulum swings and ziplines, aimed at children aged roughly 2 to 12. Water play is a big part of the visit: a 15-metre Helter Skelter, two large waterslides with twists and drops (including a twisting blue tunnel and a red watercoaster), and a Waterfall drop-slide that reliably soaks riders, so a change of clothes is recommended. Younger children have their own scaled-down Junior Area with mini go-karts, mini ziplines and mini climbing frames, and there's a professionally designed Crazy Golf course for the whole family. Admission and ride-wristband tickets are sold online only, not at the gate, with separate pricing for entry versus a wristband covering the bigger slides. It's a rough-and-tumble, get-wet kind of day out rather than a polished theme park, and that reputation has made it a long-running favourite for Dublin families.
