About Achill Experience Aquarium & Museum

Mayo's only aquarium, tucked into the same building as the Museum of Achill Life on the edge of Keel village. Guided tours run every 45 minutes and get kids right up close to native and exotic sea creatures -- catshark pups, jellyfish, sea scorpions and more -- from a facility that also runs its own shark breeding programme. Next door, the museum brings the island's history to life through local artwork, historical footage and hands-on exhibits, with the Deserted Village at Slievemore a short trip away for anyone who wants to keep exploring. There's a shop and coffee bar on site, the building is fully wheelchair accessible, and a dedicated sensory room makes it a genuinely easy day out for younger children or anyone who benefits from a calmer space. A relaxed, all-weather stop for a family day on Achill Island -- and a regular pick for school and group tours from around the country.
