Down Syndrome Limerick offers Baby Massage classes, a Parent and Toddler Group, swimming lessons and a Youth Club. Parent & Toddler Group meets once a month at the Castletroy premises, sometimes with activities such as music therapy, suitable for under-5s. Baby Massage offers numerous advantages, such as increased bonding and decreased stress for both baby and parent, and reduced crying and emotional distress for the baby - supportive, positive touch promotes the infant's engagement with their caregivers and environment, and helps establish the sensory building blocks of cognition, behaviour and communication. Swimming: Down Syndrome Limerick hires the swimming pool at Bawnmore, Limerick, for one hour (11am-12pm) every Saturday for our families, with a swim coach happy to help children/adults with Down syndrome to swim and encourage the whole family to have a fun hour in the pool.
